Michelle Shannon

Marriage Celebrant

Weddings - Elopements - Renewal of vows

Relaxed - Modern - Fun - Real

Email now

Hello and thanks for dropping by!

I'm Michelle, I live in beautiful Byron Bay and I've been a full time celebrant for almost 10 years - and still love it!

Throughout your ceremony I want you to be close to one another - to hold hands or put your arm around each other

(have a sneaky kiss or hug  if you like) and really enjoy the moment.

My role is to create relaxed - modern - fun - real ceremonies for those in love.

Thank you for considering me for your wedding day - just to let you know I am now fully booked for 2017.

I am however taking bookings for 2018 and 2019.

Michelle Shannon Byron Bay Wedding Celebrant

So this is me

Most days I'm usually  in the office writing, reading and filing all the

important legal stuff required for weddings or I'm out walking to the lighthouse and enjoying a coffee with clients and friends.

(which is where I should be right now).

But on the weekends or to be honest any day of the week now  I am lucky enough to meet incredible people from all walks of life and help them celebrate one of the best days of their life.

Hopefully I will get to meet you to.

And this is my little family

I actually have a bigger version as well, but my 3 grown up step-kids and my one very new step-grandson are a little camera shy - so it's just my hubby Mark and my lovely daughter GG who now live at home and she keeps us both busy with dancing, singing and all sorts of concerts and fun things that she loves to do..

Below you can find just a few of the kind words that I have received from my lovely couples. (More on Testimonial page) and also check out  the 'Love on Film' page for vimeo and utube clips.

And I hope that this site will give you a little more information on who I am and what kind of service and style I can offer you as a celebrant.

Henry and Emmy married at Deux Belettes

Henry and Emmy both honoured their families who many years before came to Australia as refugees from Cambodia and Vietnam.

Henry also kept the smiles and fun coming with his lovable nature.

Where will your celebrant stand?

Well, normally most celebrants may aim for the very middle of the two of you and that is fine if you wish to have me in every photo.

But for me I really like you to be together and that you have connection.

I don't normally stand in the middle of you but just to the side so that if you have a sneaky kiss or hug it might just make you feel more comfortable, happy and relaxed.

It could also be your  favourite photo of the day.

Sasha and Christina - Celebrated at Harvest Cafe

From the moment we put our feelers out for a celebrant in Byron Bay we were told be absolutely everybody in town that “there is Michelle Shannon, then there’s everybody else”. We found her reputation scratches the surface to what an impact she makes to the whole wedding experience.

Michelle held our hand from the moment we initially met her all the way to the end of the wedding aisle. Even though we live overseas, nothing was too difficult for her. No question too silly. She showed great care, kindness, endless patience and made true personal connections to us both, setting the tone for the best wedding

ceremony we could have ever imagined.

We are both eternally grateful that Michelle was part of our wedding day.

She is simply the best.  Sasha and Christina

Henry and Emmy - married at Deux Belettes

Hi Michelle - We just wanted to say our most sincere thank you for being our celebrant on our big day. We received so many comments that the wedding was the best our guests have ever been to, and they especially loved our ceremony and mentioned what a wonderful celebrant you were who really set the mood.

I still remember just before the ceremony you came upstairs to see how I was,

which was when I was a nervous wreck, you grabbed my hands and looked me in the eye and said the kindest words. I don't remember what you said, but sometimes your actions really do speak louder than words and just being there holding my hands allowed me to compose myself again, it was exactly what I needed.

Anyway, we just wanted to really thank you again, our wedding wouldn't have been the same without you.  All the best Emmy and Henry XX

2. We meet for a rehearsal

A day or two before the wedding I like to meet you, see how you are both feeling and make sure that all the paperwork is ready to go for the big day .

And to also walk you and those involved in the wedding ceremony through the flow of the day

so that everyone feels confident and relaxed.

3. On the day

I like to arrive 30 mins prior to the ceremony so I can say hello to the groom and those that may be involved in the wedding - eg: photographers, on site managers, musicians and other staff that I will be working with and make sure we are all working as a team.

To keep everyone relaxed, happy and ready to celebrate.

And then once you are 'happily married' I will give you both a big hug and ride off into the wilderness and leave you all to celebrate.
